Terms and Conditions
• Each candidate may enter a minimum of 1 (one) and maximum of 3 (three) short stories
• All work must be in English
• No candidate may win more than one prize, if multiple entries are submitted the judges will base the scoring off of the strongest entry by the candidate
• Entry is open to individuals aged 15 to 17 residing in Gauteng
• Candidates can interpret and represent the theme in any way they choose
• Stories that appear to be entirely unrelated to the theme will not be considered
• Use a font such as Arial or Times New Roman, size 12 or more
• Use 1.5 or double spacing between lines
• Make use of a clear line between paragraphs rather than indenting
• All stories entered must be edited and polished by the candidate
• Submissions must consist of text only. No illustrations are allowed
• Submissions must be the unaided work of the candidate and in no way violate any existing copyright
• No fan fiction or use of copyrighted characters may be entered
• Candidates must own full copyright to the story submitted
• Copyright and ownership of all stories remain with the author but prize winners and authors who submit work must give permission to have their work published
• Note that stories will be edited, in association with the writers, in order to ensure a publication of the highest standard
• Neither the authors nor the creators of the competition/publisher will receive royalties from the anthology
• The competition closes at midnight on 1 November 2018
• Candidates may be contacted by Tall Tales to verify details and identification
• Prize winners will be notified via email
• Prize money will be paid via electronic transfer
• The judges' decision is final; no disputes will be entered into
• If your entry has not been acknowledged within 72 hours, please contact us –your mail may have gotten lost in transit
• Organisers reserve the right to extend the competition deadline, or cancel the competition should the entries not be of publishable quality or up to the required standard
• Entries may not be submitted under pseudonyms
• Candidates whose stories are selected will be expected to submit a good quality head and shoulders photograph suitable for publication
• Entries that do not comply with the rules will be disqualified
• The work of all winners and finalists will be compiled and published in a digital anthology which will be available for free download on Amazon.com
